LucyLube provides car maintenance at the convenience of your home or office. We also provide limited diagnostic and repair services. Our expert, highly rated oil change technicians provide services from the Bay Area to the Greater Sacramento Area. The service is not only convenient, it’s also more affordable. Since our oil change technicians are mobile, we have significantly lower overhead costs compared to auto shops. And as a new technology, we are able to negotiate better prices from auto products vendors. We pass these savings on to you, with prices that are on average 30% less than local repair shops and big business. Through our website, you can request quotes, book services, and access advice from expert oil change technicians. With your free online account, you can also view the maintenance schedule and track the service history of your car.

  4. Your oil change technician will perform the service at the convenience of your home or office. A parking space, driveway, or garage is required; oil change technicians cannot perform work on the street.
  5. We bill your credit card only after the work is done. You can access your service report and receipt in your online account.
  6. All services are backed by our 12-month / 12,000-mile (whichever comes first) warranty.

Can an oil change technician really fix my car at my location?

Yes! All maintenance and basic repairs can be done right in your driveway. Our certified mobile oil change technicians carry all the tools, scanners and lifts to do most repairs at your home or office. We service several thousand cars every month, from simple jobs such as oil changes to more complex repairs like replacing timing belts. As long as you have a driveway, parking lot or garage, you can use this extremely convenient service.

Do you have a shop where I can bring my car?

Our oil change technicians come to you and provide services at the convenience of your home or office. We do not have a shop location where you can bring your car.

Which cities do you serve?

Do you do warranty work or collision damage repair?

If you have extended warranty, we can work with your warranty provider. We currently do not work with OEM and do not offer any OE warranty services. We also do not provide any collision related repairs.

What are your hours?

Our office is open 7 days a week from 7am to 5pm PST. Our oil change technicians set their own hours, but in most of our service areas, oil change technicians are available from 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week.

How can I get an estimate?

You can request an estimate online by selecting your location, car and services. In most cases, we will give you a price instantly. You will see the breakdown of labor fees and products costs. There will never be any surprises or hidden costs. If an instant price is not available, we will send you a quote within 24 hours, usually sooner.

How is the price calculated?

All of our pricing is determined by our Fair Price Calculator, which is based on decades' worth of car repair information and the industry standard labor guide. Our products pricing is based directly on our wholesalers' prices. Our online pricing system is fair and impartial; we give you a transparent price. Sample fair price calculation:

  • Timing belt kit (belt, water pump, tensioner, pulleys) replacement for a 1995 Honda Accord in Northern California:
  • Average time to do the job: 4.2 hours
  • Oil change technician's hourly rate: $80
  • Fixed labor fees: $80 x 4.2 = $336 (please note: we don’t charge for time. we charge a fixed fee whether the job takes less or more time)
  • Products from wholesaler: $198.30
  • Your fair price: $80 x 4.2 (labor fee) + $198.30 (products) = $534.30

What is your hourly rate?

We don’t charge for our services based on time. We give you a fair and transparent labor price quote, and you pay the same price whether it takes less or more time for the technician to complete the service. We calculate the price based on an estimated time and we apply a labor rate that varies by city -- it can be anywhere between $60 - $90 depending on where you live.

Is it more expensive than going to shops and dealers?

As a network of mobile oil change technicians, we don’t have overhead costs like shops and dealers. As a new technology, we are able to negotiate better pricing from products vendors than independent local garages. For most services, we offer average savings of 30% compared to local shops. The bigger the service, the more you save. For smaller services (e.g., oil changes), the cost may be slightly higher than local shops because oil change technicians must earn a minimum amount to justify the cost of traveling to you. If you value your time, the convenience of an oil change technician coming to you may easily justify spending a little more than local shops on those smaller services. And of course, you will always get a fair and transparent price before you book a service.

Is there an additional fee for the oil change technician to come to my location?

No. We don’t charge a drive fee or convenience fee.

Is there a cancellation fee?

You may cancel your appointment for no charge at any time more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the appointment. If you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled start time, LucyLube will charge your credit card a $25 cancellation fee.

Am I supposed to tip the oil change technician?

Our oil change technicians do not expect a tip of any kind. Instead of leaving a tip, please recommend the oil change technician to all your friends. You may also want write a review on their profile and rate us on Yelp. Our oil change technicians get a higher pay from us if they have higher ratings on their profile and Yelp.

What if oil change technician finds that my car needs more or less services than I had requested?

You’re always in control. If our oil change technician finds your car doesn’t need all the services you requested, we’ll remove those unneeded services and lower your bill, right on the spot. If your car needs additional repair services, our oil change technician will provide you with an itemized list of what you need. You can decide to accept or decline those additional services.

Is there a fee for an oil change technician to diagnose my car?

Yes. We charge a diagnostic fee to come to you and diagnose your car. This fee covers the inspection and diagnostic time and cost of driving to you. The fee varies from $60-$90 depending on the city you live in.

What does the diagnostic service include?

If your car has a problem, you can book an oil change technician to perform a diagnostic. An oil change technician will come to your location and inspect your car. Our oil change technicians go through a step-by-step process to rule out or confirm any part(s) failures. Diagnosing a problem is a process. Sometimes the only way to prove that a part is defective is to replace it and recheck the car. Your oil change technician will diagnose the car and then provide preliminary recommendations and repair estimates, based on their visual inspection and any tests performed. The inspection report may include photos, test results, audio notes, recommended services, and a service estimate (if applicable).

Does the inspection fee go towards the repair?

We currently charge an inspection fee, but we will credit half of that fee towards the repair. If you complete a diagnostic inspection and book the repair with us, we will apply the inspection fee you paid as a credit on the repair bill.

I don’t know what’s wrong with my car. What can I do?

You can book an appointment for an oil change technician to come out to you and inspect your car. They will provide their inspection report and recommend services that your car needs.

How can I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment online by selecting your location, car and services. In most cases, we will give you a price instantly. You will see the breakdown of labor fees and products cost. You will also see the list of available times. To book an appointment, simply select a time that works for you and provide your location and payment information. We do not bill your card until the service is complete.

Why is a credit card required to book an appointment?

Your credit card is not billed until the oil change technician has performed all the services. However, a valid credit card is required to hold your appointment and to verify that the appointment request is legitimate. This prevents people from making fictitious appointments and ensures that oil change technicians are not wasting their time driving around. We use bank-level security and all your data is passed over a secured 256-bit encrypted connection.

Can I choose an oil change technician?

You can choose the same oil change technician if you have used the service before. If you are a new customer, we assign you an oil change technician who is qualified to work on your car.

How soon can I get an oil change technician?

We have oil change technicians available 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm. Depending on the availability of products, we are usually able to provide services the same day or next day, though the oil change technicians tend to get booked rather quickly. You can see oil change technicians' availability after you request a quote.

How late can I cancel an appointment?

To avoid a cancellation fee of $25, we request that you give us at least 24 hours of notice. You can cancel your appointment using your online account, mobile app, or by calling us at 1-916-999-0069.

What if the oil change technician is late?

Please remember to allow 60 minutes for your oil change technician to arrive. Sometimes oil change technicians get caught in traffic or a previous job takes longer than expected. We do apologize if this is the case. If you have not heard from your oil change technician by your appointment time, please give us a call at 916-999-0069 and we will work to resolve the issue. If you need to reschedule, we will take care of this for you as well.

How do I know the products are of good quality?

The products team at LucyLube has gone through a rigorous filtering process to select the brands that are best suited for your car. Our products catalog has a list of approved brands for each type of car and each type of part. We take pride in having a network of oil change technicians that uses high-quality products. Whenever possible, the products used are OE products or aftermarket products that meet or exceed OEM service specifications. When reviewing your quote, you will see the brands of the products. Each part is clearly marked as OE, OE equivalent or aftermarket.

Where are the products coming from?

We buy products from several vendors -- from local vendors to wholesale suppliers across the nation, allowing you to receive high-quality products at reasonable prices. Currently there are over 100 warehouses nationwide that ship products directly to our oil change technicians. Whenever possible, we prefer OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or OE-equivalent products, and we think they’re better for your car. We also offer high-quality aftermarket products, often from the same manufacturer as the original products.

Can I provide my own products?

Yes, you are welcome to buy your own products and book one of our oil change technicians to install them. When reviewing your quote online, open the “price breakdown” tab, and click on “products options.” From there, you can choose to remove all the products from your quote. Please note: when you provide your own products, our service warranty is voided.

How do I pay for the service?

We require a credit card to book an appointment, but we will only process the payment after the work is done. If you need to change the credit card number, you can give the oil change technician a different card.

Where can I find my receipt?

We will email you a copy of the receipt and service report after the oil change technician has finished working on your car. You can access your receipt any time through your online account.

How can I resolve my billing issues?

How do oil change technicians work with LucyLube?

LucyLube is a network of expert mobile oil change technicians. Independent oil change technicians apply to join our network. Every oil change technician goes through an extensive screening process that includes background, criminal, and reference checks. Once approved, oil change technicians are booked for jobs through LucyLube. Your service agreement is with LucyLube, not the individual oil change technician. Although you are provided the service by the oil change technicians in our network, we stand behind the service with our 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty.

How are the oil change technicians screened?

Oil change technicians are screened through a two step process: Step 1: We perform a background check, skills check, and one-on-one interview with the oil change technician. About 5-10% of the oil change technicians who apply are approved. Step 2: If the oil change technician passes the screening process, we allow them to accept jobs from customers. Oil change technicians are rated by car owners after every job, and they have to maintain a score of at least 4 out of 5 to continue to be part of our network.

Are the oil change technicians certified?

Most of our oil change technicians are certified by ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence). Some of our oil change technicians are certified by similar organizations and/or have dealer or factory training. You can see oil change technicians’ certifications on their profile online, which is accessible during the booking process. You can also review their experience, work history, jobs completed for other car owners, fees paid by other car owners, and real customers’ ratings and reviews. We take pride in being totally transparent.

How do I get an oil change technician who specializes in my car (Honda, Ford, BMW etc.)?

Our system matches you only with an oil change technician who is qualified to work on your car. Many of our oil change technicians have dealer or factory training with certain brands. Some of them have years of experience working on certain types of cars (e.g. German cars, domestic cars, etc). You can see their particular strengths and expertise on their profiles, as well as reviews from previous customers who own the same make of car as yours.

What is the warranty on labor and products?

We stand behind the workmanship and products provided by oil change technicians on our platform. Every service booked through LucyLube comes with our 12-month / 12,000-mile (whichever comes first) warranty, measured from the date the services are provided and the odometer reading shown on the applicable invoice. How can I file a claim under this warranty?
